The Borough Sea Angling Club (BSAC) was formed in late 1969 in the Borough of Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin. The original name suggested was ‘Borough Strikers’ but this was thought to be too radical at the time by the governing body and it was eventually watered down to its present name

The first meeting venue, attended by 19 enthusiasts, was a hairdresser’s premises – Connollys in Glasthule. Over the years we moved to Rosses Hotel, Victor Hotel (now Rochestown Lodge) and at present our meetings are held at the the Club , Dalkey

Meetings are held approximately every month where items are discussed and decisions made. It is also an opportunity for general discussion on angling related matters and a social get together where many a good story has been told of the ‘one that got away’.

Over the years club members have been successful in Open Angling Competitions around the four provinces. They have excelled in the All Ireland Competitions and at International level.

As a club we fish throughout the country on chartered angling boats at venues such as Ballycotton, Kilmore Quay, Valentia, Youghal and Dunmore East, arranging 8 club boat and 10 shore events during the season. In addition, over recent years club members have travelled to Norway, Kenya, Gambia and Guinea Bissau, mainly for boat angling. Other members have arranged shore fishing trips to Denmark.

The club takes safety very seriously and was one of the first to introduce the compulsory wearing of a lifejacket by members in all boat competitions. It is now considered part of the angler’s equipment.
